Are we prepared for a green future? ESG standards as a guide for sustainable corporate world

The 15th Business Forum, titled “ARE WE PREPARED FOR A GREEN FUTURE? ESG STANDARDS AS A GUIDE FOR SUSTAINABLE CORPORATE WORLD” organized by the Rotary Club Skopje Center, took place on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at the Marriott Hotel Skopje.
On this exceptionally relevant and significant topic, valuable advice and experiences were shared by panelists Zorica Asenova from the Macedonian Stock Exchange, Frosina Celeska from the National Bank of RSM, Dimitar Ristovski from Alkaloid Ad Skopje, and Bogoja Kitancev from NLB Bank AD Skopje, moderated by Aneta Petrovska-Rusomarski.
The following messages were conveyed:
The business community, especially from the EU, investors, and the financial sector, imposes compliance with certain ESG standards as a condition for cooperation.
Strong ESG performances for each company mean better risk management, keeping pace with new trends and regulations, long-term investment planning, cost savings for energy and water, improved motivation, and employee productivity.
Better access to capital and investment opportunities, along with favorable financing conditions.
Advancement of transparency in operations, increased employee satisfaction, and attraction of new talents.
ESG standards exist not only to meet regulatory requirements but for better corporate reputation, sustainable operation, and increased risk resilience for every company. The benefit is then transferred to the entire society, contributing to the creation of a healthy environment and prosperity for the entire community.
A heartfelt appreciation goes out to the panelists and all participants within the Rotary community.
